Compare Solar Panel Installation Quotes from UK Installers
Compare solar panel installation quotes for your home from UK installers. Get Free Quote is a comparison and introduction service; it does not claim to manufacture panels or carry out installations itself.
Request and compare quotesTypical UK costs
Energy Saving Trust currently gives a typical home solar PV installation cost of around £7,600. Price depends on system size, roof access, equipment, scaffolding, battery storage and electrical work. Ask every installer to show the assumed system size and annual generation.
Prices are indicative, not a quotation. A survey and written scope are needed for an accurate price.
Options to compare
- System size in kWp and number of panels
- Panel make, model, efficiency and warranty
- String inverter, microinverters or optimisers
- Optional battery capacity and backup features
- Monitoring, export limitation and EV integration
What affects the price?
- Roof area, orientation, pitch and shading
- Scaffolding and roof condition
- Panel, inverter and battery specification
- Consumer-unit or cabling upgrades
- DNO process, export limits and access
What should be included in the quote?
- Panel layout and itemised equipment
- Estimated annual generation with assumptions
- Scaffolding, mounting and electrical work
- DNO and Building Regulations responsibilities
- MCS certificate where applicable and warranties
Installer checks
Where MCS is relevant, verify the contractor directly with MCS. Confirm electrical competence, insurance, company identity, consumer-code membership and responsibility for the DNO process.
Timelines and warranties
Many domestic systems are installed in one to three days; survey, scaffolding and DNO steps take longer. Compare panel product and performance warranties, inverter and battery warranties, workmanship cover and installer-failure protection.

Frequently asked questions
How should I compare generation estimates?
Check roof orientation, pitch, shading, location and system losses. A higher estimate is not automatically more credible.
Should I add a battery?
Value depends on consumption, tariff, usable capacity, efficiency and warranty. Ask for solar-only and solar-plus-battery figures.
What are G98 and G99?
They are processes for connecting generation to the distribution network. The installer should explain the applicable route and who handles it.
